Generate a shot in an edit
Make a video or image from inside the editor with the card, and it lands at the playhead.
Missing a shot? Choose the sparkle in the editor’s top bar, beside Export, or press ⌘J (Ctrl+J on Windows). The card docks at the right of the edit, as a card of its own beside the editor, with the conversation above it. It’s the same card as everywhere else in Shotz, with every setting it has. See The card and its settings.

- Move the playhead to where the shot should go.
- Describe the shot. Type @ to bring in one of your elements, such as a character or product.
- Use the tiles over your words and the row under them. Frames (video only), Look, Camera and Lighting are the tiles; the row has the model (it picks a model and switches between video and image, and is Auto unless you pick one), the length, the number of takes, quality and sound, then the paperclip for references, Elements, Emotion (the face, which puts how someone feels into your words) and Skills. Once your words read like a shot, the wand beside them runs Improve prompt.
- Send it. The send button shows the price. Up to 500 credits it starts after five seconds, with Stop beside it; over that, press Generate on the shot the Agent shows.
Shots come out in the edit’s shape, and each one lands at the playhead when it’s ready, on a free track, so takes don’t cover your other clips. If the playhead is at the end of the cut, or in its last half second, the shot goes after the last shot instead of on a new track. You can keep editing while they’re made, and a shot made for this edit shows in its Media as soon as it’s ready.
When you ask the Agent for a shot in the edit, such as “one more shot of the dog inside”, it treats it as the next shot of your film. It looks at the whole cut, carries the subject, place, light and colour into the prompt, and sends the last frame of the clip it follows as a reference, so the new shot matches. Say where it should go: after the last shot (“the next shot”), at the playhead (“a cutaway here”), or only into Media. If you don’t say, it lands at the playhead. Drag the card’s left edge to make it wider or narrower, and choose × at its top or press ⌘J again to close it.
You can also ask the Agent to change the edit itself, like “tighten the start”. See The Agent.
For a voiceover, use Audio → Voice. See Music and voiceover.
If you can only view the edit, you can’t generate into it.
If you don’t have enough credits, nothing starts and Shotz shows you ways to get more. If a take fails, its credits come back.
On a phone
Tap the Agent sparkle in the editor’s top bar, beside Export. The card opens in a drawer.
After it lands
Click the new clip to see its prompt in the Prompt tab of its panel and its model in Details. Tools in the timeline’s toolbar can make it again, try it on a different model, or fix it. See Change a clip.
