Edit on your phone
How the editor works on a phone: scrubbing, picking clips, the tools and exporting.
The editor works on a phone, laid out for one hand: the preview at the top, the whole edit at a glance under it, and the tools along the bottom. It’s the same edit as on a computer, and changes on either show on the other.
Getting around
- Play sits above the timeline, with the time, Split at the playhead, Undo and Redo beside it.
- Drag across the timeline to scrub. Tap an empty part to put the playhead there.
- The pill under the preview is the edit’s shape; tap it to change it.
- Tap the project’s name at the top to see its edits and switch between them or start another.
Changing a clip
Tap a clip to pick it. The timeline shrinks to that clip’s track and its settings slide up beneath: speed, volume, how it comes in, fill or fit, new takes and fixes, Split at the playhead, Duplicate and Delete the clip. Tap the handle at the top of the settings when you’re done. See Change a clip.
Moving clips and dragging their ends to trim need a computer. On a phone, split a clip at the right places and delete the parts you don’t want.
The tools
The row along the bottom scrolls: Media, Generate, Text, Captions, Audio, Effects, Templates, Assistant and Edits. Each opens as a sheet over the editor; drag its handle down to close it. They work as they do on a computer; in Media, the + on a file adds it at the playhead.
Sharing and exporting
Share and Export are at the top right. Export makes the video on the phone itself, so keep the app open until it’s done. See Export a video.
