Free tools that run in your browser

Compress, resize or trim a video, pull out its sound, resize or compress an image, or get its colours. Free, and nothing waits on a server.

Seven tools in Tools work on a file from your Library right in your browser. They’re free, they take no credits and they never change the original. What they make is a new file: Save to Library keeps it, or Download (the arrow beside it) saves it to your computer.

They’re the same tools as on shotz.co/tools, with your Library to pick from. You’ll find them under Start from a file, and in a file’s Tools menu in the Library.

Video

  • Compress video: pick a size: WhatsApp (under 16 MB), Email (under 25 MB), Smaller (720p) or Smallest (480p). Keep full quality keeps the larger picture size. If the video was already small and the result comes out bigger, you’ll be told to keep the original.
  • Resize video: pick 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9. By default it fills the frame and crops the edges. Turn on Fit the whole picture to keep everything, on a blurred copy of itself.
  • Trim video: drag Start and End. The part between them is the new file.
  • Extract audio: the video’s sound as a WAV file, nothing lost.

Compressing, resizing and trimming take about as long as the video, so keep the tab open. Stop cancels. These need a browser that can re-encode video, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer.

Images

  • Resize image: pick a size, such as Instagram post, Story, YouTube thumbnail, Amazon, Shopify or Etsy, or Custom size. Fit on a colour keeps the whole picture on a background you pick; Fill and crop fills the size.
  • Compress image: set the quality and the Largest side. The result never comes out bigger than it went in.
  • Colour palette: pick 5 to 8 colours. Click one to copy its hex code, Copy as CSS copies them all, and Save to Library keeps the palette as a picture.

These tools are for owners and editors. In the demo workspace, the picture tools work on the sample images; sign in to use your own files.
