Clean up audio

Keep the voice in a recording and take out the noise, the room’s echo and music behind it.

Clean up audio keeps the voice in a video or a sound file and takes out what’s behind it: traffic, hum, wind, the room’s echo and music. What’s said stays as it was, and in step with the picture. The clean voice is a new sound file, the same length as the original, and the original stays as it was.

Clean up a file

  1. Open Tools and pick Clean up audio, or open a video or sound file in your Library and pick Clean up the sound under Tools.
  2. Under Which recording?, pick a video or sound file with someone talking.
  3. Choose Clean it up. The button shows the price.

It takes about a minute for every few minutes of sound. You can close the tool, or stop it while it works and get the credits back. The clean voice lands in your Library next to the original.

In the editor

Pick a video or audio clip on the timeline and choose Clean up the sound in Tools in the timeline’s toolbar. When it’s ready, the clean voice goes onto an audio track under the clip, playing the same part at the same speed, and the clip’s own sound is turned down to nothing. Its Volume, in the clip’s panel, brings it back if you want both.

What it costs

It costs 30 credits for every started minute of the file. The price on the button is what you pay, and it comes back if the clean-up doesn’t work.

Good to know

  • It takes files up to 30 minutes long. For a longer one, export the part you need from an edit first.
  • It keeps voices only. Music you want to keep, put back on its own track in the editor.
