Brands

Keep your logo, colours, type, look and voice in one place, so every shot looks like you made it.

A brand holds what makes your shots yours: your logo, colours and typefaces, the look of your pictures, how you sound in words, your voice and music, and a few rules. When a brand is on, every shot you make follows it.

Brands come with Pro and Team. With no brand yet, the Brands page opens on a short shot made on Shotz with Every shot, on brand. On Free and Starter, owners get a button there to move to Pro (Get Pro on Free, Move to Pro on Starter), and everyone else sees Brands come with Pro. On Pro and Team, editors and owners get a Build your brand button instead. Pro keeps one brand. Team keeps as many as you need, so an agency can keep one for each client.

Make a brand

Open Brands in the sidebar (on a phone, tap your photo, then Brands). Type your website’s address and choose Read my website · free. Shotz opens your site the way a browser would, along with a page or two it links to, like About or Shop, and reads the logo, colours and typefaces, the way you write and the look of your pictures, usually in under a minute. Some sites turn away automated visits; if yours does, start from a name instead. Reading a website or a set of shots is limited to 10 in ten minutes for each person; past that it says That’s a lot of websites read in a few minutes. Give it a minute and try again. Check what it found, change anything that’s off, and choose Next: the look.

The last step is optional: pick up to 8 images or videos from your Library that look like you (or drop new ones on the box above them, or choose choose some in it), choose the Read button that appears (for example Read 3 shots) and Shotz describes the light, camera and grade they share. Then choose Make the brand · free.

No website? Choose No website? Start from a name and fill each part in yourself on the brand’s page. If the site changes later, the brand’s page has a button named after your site, like Read yourbrand.com again (on a phone, it’s in the … menu); it replaces the logo, colours, type, voice and look, and keeps the name, sound and rules.

What’s in a brand

  • Logo: your wordmark for light and dark grounds, and a small mark.
  • Colours: each with a name and how much of a frame it usually takes. Wardrobe, sets and props are steered toward them.
  • Type: the typefaces for titles and for running text.
  • Look: the light, the camera, the grade, and what never appears in your shots.
  • Voice: a few words for how you sound, and what you say instead of what.
  • Sound: the voice your voiceovers speak in and the style of your music.
  • Rules: things every shot keeps to, such as “No text drawn into shots”. Turn each on or off.
  • Things to know: what the Agent should keep in mind for this brand, such as your products, who they’re for, where you post and what you can and can’t claim. Choose Add a note (it’s Add once there are some), type one short line (up to 300 characters), and remove one with its Remove button. You can keep up to 30. The Agent reads them along with the rest of the brand; they aren’t added to your shots’ prompts.

Owners and editors can change a brand. Everyone in the workspace can see it.

Manage your brands

On a computer, your brands are listed down the left, each with its first colours at the right, and New brand is at the top right. With eight or more brands, a Find a brand box appears above the list. The default one is marked Default. Any brand the plan can’t use is marked Kept. The open brand’s summary sits beside the list, and its Add links jump to the matching section. On a phone there’s a picker instead, and New brand is the violet round button at the top right.

On the open brand, the … menu has Rename, Make default and Delete brand. The default is the brand the card starts on. Only owners can make a brand the default or delete one; deleting asks first, and takes made with it stay in your Library.

Use a brand in a tool

The Ad creator, Carousel maker and UGC ad each have a Brand choice under Options on the step where you write the brief. Each brand is a card with its mark in its own colours and its name, your default first and marked Default, then No brand. It starts on your default. The tool then writes in the brand’s voice and, for ads and carousels, lays them out in its colours and type. It only shows when your workspace has a brand it can use.

Use a brand when you generate

In the card, choose the settings pill (the one that says the model) to see Brand, last in Settings. A brand that’s on shows its mark at the start of that pill. It starts on your workspace’s default brand, then remembers the one you last picked in this browser. Choose it to pick another brand, or No brand. If you haven’t made a brand yet, it offers Build your brand instead. Using a brand costs nothing.

Your prompt stays as you wrote it. Shotz adds the brand’s look, colours and rules when it asks the model, and a voiceover made with a brand speaks in its voice unless you pick another. If you also pick a look for the shot, the look sets the grade and the brand’s own grade steps aside for that shot. The same goes for the card’s Camera and Lighting: a camera or lighting you pick replaces the brand’s own camera or light line. A black and white look also leaves the brand’s colours out of that shot.

In the editor

The editor uses your workspace’s default brand:

  • Text has a style in your brand’s typeface and colours, the Font choice has Brand, and Colour has your colours.
  • Captions has your brand’s look first.
  • Export can end the video on your logo (or your name, without one) on your brand’s ground for a second and a half. Turn End card on or off when you export; the switch under your brand’s Logo decides where it starts.

Writing in your voice

Improve prompt, Write it for me on voiceovers and the scripts for UGC ads are written in your brand’s voice, with the words you say and the ones you avoid.

If you change plan

Moving below Pro keeps your brands but you can’t use them, and the card stops offering them. Moving from Team to Pro keeps your default brand in use and the others kept for later. Move back up and they’re there as you left them. Nothing is deleted.
