Generate your first shot
Describe what you want, pick a model or leave it on Auto, and generate.
Generating needs credits, which come with a paid plan or a top-up. See How credits work.
On a computer
Choose Create in the sidebar. The form is on the left, and your takes come in on the right. Every setting is explained in The Create page and its settings.
- Pick Video or Image at the top.
- Describe the shot under Prompt: who or what is in it, where it is, how the camera moves and the light. Improve prompt rewrites what you typed into a fuller description.
- Leave Model on Auto to let Shotz pick a model for your prompt, or choose one yourself.
- Set the Shape (16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5) and, for video, the Length.
- Choose how many Takes to make: 1, 2 or 4. Each one is charged.
- Press Generate. The button shows the price before you start.
You can also start from the box on Home.
On a phone
Tap + in the middle of the tab bar. The same choices open in a drawer: pick Video or Image, describe the shot, then tap the chips under the prompt to change the model, shape, length, number of takes or quality. Tap Generate at the bottom.
What the price says
While the model is on Auto, the price reads “from” the cheapest model that fits. Once you stop typing, Shotz picks the model for your prompt and the button shows that model and its price. If the pick changes or costs more than what was shown, Shotz tells you instead of running it, so you’re never charged more than you saw.
Your takes
Each result is a take. They appear on Create as they’re made, grouped under the prompt that made them, and finished ones are saved to your Library. From there:
- Reuse prompt puts the same prompt back in the form, and Try another model opens it ready for a different model.
- On a computer, click takes to select them, then Add to an edit, Download or Upscale.
- On a phone, tap a take to watch it full screen, or hold it for more.
If a take fails, its credits come back. See What happens when a take fails.
Tips for better shots
- Say what the camera does: “slow push in”, “handheld, following her”.
- Name the light and time of day: “golden hour”, “neon at night”.
- Tag an element with @ to keep a character or product the same across shots. See Keep a character the same across shots.
- Add a Start frame to begin a video on a photo of your own.
