Set a spending limit for the workspace
Cap how many credits everyone in the workspace can spend together each month.
A spending limit is the most the whole workspace can spend in a month, everyone together. It sits beside the limits you can give each person, and a run has to fit under both. Owners set it; everyone can see it.
Set or change it
- Open Settings → Usage.
- Under Spending limits, beside Monthly limit, choose Set a limit (or Change if there’s one).
- Type the credits a month and choose Save. Leave it empty and save for no limit.
With a limit set, the row shows how much has been used, such as 13,240 of 20,000 used this month, with a bar. Without one it says No limit and what has been used so far.
Below it, Limits for each person says how many people have their own limit, with Manage beside it to open Settings → Members. See Set a credit limit for someone.
How it works
- The month is the calendar month in UTC, so it starts again on the 1st.
- Credits that come back from a take that failed or was stopped count back towards it.
- When a run would go over, it doesn’t start and nothing is spent. A take already waiting stops with This workspace has reached its monthly spending limit. Where there’s a window, it says how many credits are left of the limit and how many the run needs, and that an owner can raise it in Settings → Usage.
- Owners get a notification and an email when the workspace has used 80% of its limit, and again when it reaches it. Each is sent once a month.
The limit only caps spending. It doesn’t set credits aside, and it can’t add any: the workspace still needs credits to spend. See How credits work.
Setting or removing the limit is recorded in the audit log.
