Set a credit limit for someone
Cap how many of the workspace’s credits one person can spend each month.
Everyone in a workspace spends from the same credits. An owner can give any member a monthly limit so one person can’t use them all.
Set a limit
- Open Settings → Members.
- Each person’s row says how many credits they’ve spent this month, or how many of their limit if they have one, such as 120 of 500 credits this month. Choose Set limit on their row, or Change limit if they already have one.
- Type how many credits they can spend each month, and choose Save. Leave it empty for no limit.
You can also get there from Settings → Usage: under Spending limits, Limits for each person says how many people have one, with Manage beside it. By person lists what each person has spent, each with their photo or initials.
To cap the whole workspace instead, see Set a spending limit for the workspace.
How it works
- The month is the calendar month, so everyone’s spending starts again on the 1st.
- Credits that come back from a take that failed or was stopped count back towards the limit.
- When a run would take someone over their limit, it doesn’t start. A window says You’ve reached your limit, how many credits are left of the limit and how many the run needs, and asks them to get an owner to raise it in Settings. Got it closes it. Where there’s no window, a message says the same: That needs so many credits, more than is left of your monthly limit here. Ask an owner to raise it, then try again.
- A limit only caps what that person spends. It doesn’t set credits aside for them.
Owners can set a limit on themselves and on other owners too. Changing someone’s limit is recorded in the audit log.
Editors and owners see everyone’s limit and what they’ve spent. People who can only comment see their own.
