Sachiko, prom 1987

Sachiko, a Japanese woman in her mid 60s who is a punk grandmother: tall white liberty-spike mohawk, laugh lines, small silver nose ring, reading glasses on a beaded chain, a black studded leather biker jacket covered in patches worn over a cream knitted cardigan with pearl buttons, plaid skirt, Dr. Martens boots. As a teenager at her 1987 school prom, same face but young, a smaller white mohawk, a puffy-sleeved pink taffeta dress under her leather jacket, posed in front of a balloon arch, harsh on-camera flash, faded VHS-era photo look. Teenage Sachiko bursts through the balloon arch into the prom and starts pogo dancing, balloons flying, friends cheering; handheld camcorder footage with fast whip pans and snap zooms, VHS look.
