A whale over the crossing

Kofi, a Ghanaian man in his late 30s who is a tailor: very dark skin, tall and lean, a sculpted high-top fade with a gold afro comb tucked in it, neat short beard, gold-rimmed round glasses, wearing a sharply cut double-breasted suit in a loud orange, green and gold kente-inspired woven print with a matching pocket square. Waiting at a busy city crosswalk on an overcast day, looking up with mild interest while an enormous humpback whale drifts slowly overhead at rooftop height, its shadow across the street, other pedestrians stopped and staring up. The whale dives low over the crossing, its tail sweeps past the buildings and a gust blows hats and papers everywhere, people duck and scatter, Kofi strides across the road unbothered; the camera cranes up fast from street level past Kofi to fly alongside the whale above the traffic.
